The babies are still baking

I keep hearing that I haven't updated my blog, which of course is true! So, here is a quick update. The babies are just baking away happily with Nicole. They still have plenty of room to kick and move around, in fact their chart at the doctors noted that they are "active". Usually Logan (we have names we are 99% sure on) is the most impressive tumbler, but last week I got a text from Nicole saying that Lila had tucked her knees up to her chest and was spinning around so much you could see it from the outside and it was pretty hilarious.

At their last apt. on the 17th they were each measuring a day or two ahead which is fantastic. Baby center tells me they are the length of an English cucumber right now. Their heart beats are always consistent and very good. We will be 27 weeks on Saturday, just one week away from that magic 28 week mark.

As for us on the home front we have realized that if they come at 35 weeks (which is very common for twins) we only have two months left and have kicked the preparations into high gear. Tom is busy sanding the cribs, which we bought from a friend with older twins and a dresser/changing table I found on Craig's list. With buying two of everything we are economizing where ever we can! I had the frightening realization the other day that we would be going through 20 diapers a day. There are only 4 1/2 days in the largest newborn pack and that is insane!!!!! We are going to give them a fresh coat of white paint. I thought he would complain about all the work but it seems to have actually been good for him and given him something to do. With winter here and no yard work he was getting pretty restless.

This is the cozy glider for the babies' room which Mario thinks belongs to him. He is in for a sad awakening. Poor Mario!

Here are some pictures of the bedding. How handy that Restoration hardware makes coordinating prints in pink and blue. I love it!

I am powering through my very long list of projects that have been on my list forever and I have now decided really have to get done before the twins get here.

Paint the nursery of course
Clean out our monstrosity of a basement
Get the carpets cleaned
Finish drapes and blinds for the house
Put linings in my cabinets and drawers (I know, I should have done that when we moved in!)
Touch up the paint in the entire house
Pick colors for and paint the office, guest bed room, and the guest bath
Frame pictures
Draw up a will

Just to name a few, not to mention arranging all the legal, financial and logistical tasks of getting these babies here. Busy right now is very good for me. As you all know, I can be a little impatient (just a little.) My wonderful friend Sara came over yesterday and helped me organize the chaos in the nursery into beautiful order. She is quite the slave driver, but it feels great to have all their things organized and up out of the way. I should have taken before and after pictures. Feeling like I don't have enough time to get everything done is helping the wait go faster. Otherwise I would be climbing the walls because all I really want is for them to be here and healthy.

Thank heavens we have such a fantastic surrogate because I really never worry they are being taken care of. I worry more about how they will be taken care of here! I have little moments while I'm doing all this where I question whether people are really going to leave me alone with two newborn babies. Or, if Tom and I will have a clue about getting through an airport and home safely less than a week after birth. It all seems a little crazy!

Well, this turned out longer than I intended! I will stop torturing you now, and go back to testing paint colors.

Nice to see a post! Sounds like things are coming along nicely. The bedding is divine, and I'm glad to see you've gone public with Logan and Lila - nice names! Good luck getting everything ready. I'm anxiously awaiting a shower invite! Talk to you soon-

You're in pretty good shape - I found the glider to be a must for the long nights. I waited too long to get ready with Addy and then she was born at 36 weeks. I was counting on those four extra weeks! So sounds like you're getting things done in advance, which is good. I found that some stuff we had wasn't used (like the Diaper champ) and other stuff we had to buy.
