I'm finally mobile! (and other fun changes)

Look they fit!

I received a very exciting delivery yesterday. My Dad arrived with our mini-van we purchased from Utah. It has been getting harder and harder to get the babies in and out of the Audi. They are getting sooo big and I have to really contort myself to clip in the car seats, move the handles etc. Also, in the heat we have been having the AC in the back just didn't cut it. When I would get them out the poor things would be all sweaty and hot. I had started to feel like I didn't want to take them out.

We have been trying to purchase one for months, but while the IRS was holding our tax return (for no good reason of course) prices went up $3K-$4K. It was looking bleak. We were paying cash and thought we would have to save up the extra money when I saw three on KSL's classifieds (in Utah) that were much less than everyone else was listing them for. My Dad came to the rescue, checked them out and a little less than two weeks later I have room to breath. The new minivan has many exciting features, including:

I can take a friend AND their child with me on outings
I can bring a stroller and still fit groceries (very useful for Costco.)
My little rolly polly babies don't have sweaty backs anymore!
Tom can scoot his seat all the way back and we can still get the car seat out.
I now look like an official member of the Mormon Mom club (not sure how I feel about this one!)
And this is a big one...we can now take road trips! I am hoping to sneak one in soon.

There are so many changes around here. The babies do something new every day. Most of them happy. One of them makes me a little sad. My babies don't really need to be swaddled any more. Logan still likes one arm in, but I have had to start wrapping Lila loosely so the arms pop out immediately. We have been letting them cry themselves to back to sleep at night at night since they have learned the binkie game. You know the one. "If I spit out my binkie, Mom/Dad will come back in so I can smile at them". Very cute but not good for sleep. Lila was crying one morning at about 4:45 when I heard it really escalate into a different cry, so I checked the video monitor. In the process of pulling her arms out of the swaddle she had caught her hands in the blanket and pulled it over her head. By the time I ran in there she was hysterical and that was it for sleeping that morning. The great thing is they both are loving their blankies, especially Lila. I am a big fan of that and "comfort items" in general.

Logan and Lila have also started noticing each other which is pretty funny to watch. It is kind of like they just noticed the other one was there. They are beginning to notice when one of them is being held and the other isn't. That could get interesting!

Lila has found her feet and Logan is really starting to get the hang of toys (Lila's had it for a while) and he is laughing a lot now. You never know what will set him off but he has the cutest chuckle and smile. Lila has a scream that will break your ear drums and loves the sound of it!

They are so cute that I wish I could reach through my computer screen and pinch their darling rolls! Congrats on the minivan find. I hear KSL.com has great deals. It must be a relief to feel like you can go places more easily.

Give me a break with these babies!!! I stopped checking your blog bc you went so long w/out an update (understandably so). Now they are all grown up!!! My heart is melting! Maybe we'll see you guys for Christmas?

Welcome to the wonderful world of minivans. I'll never go back. Unless of course we strike it rich someday and I can buy me a nice Mercedes SUV or something. Even then...
