9 month check up day

I can't believe my babies are nine months! Over 3/4 of the way to a year. I love watching each new thing they learn and do but it goes way too fast. Makes me think about doing it again. Not very likely, considering how we got Lila and Logan to our family but a girl can day dream. They had their 9 month checkup and Lila is now 17 lbs 6 oz and Logan is 19 lbs 14.4 oz. Definitely pulling ahead. They both dropped down in weight % to 20% and 40%. Everyone thinks Logan is so big and heavy so that surprised me, but Lila is so busy she will barely eat so she wasn't as surprising.

So, what are they doing now?

Lila started dragging herself around with the classic army crawl the week after Thanksgiving. It was quite funny since she would drag one arm behind her like it was broken. Not one to dawdle she learned three new tricks the week after Christmas. She mastered the full hands and knees crawl, learned to sit herself up from laying down, and started saying Mamama and Mom. It pops up most when she is hungry, tired or wants to be held. Such a great sound! I have been trying to teach her and Logan since they started saying Dada at 6 months.

She is a naughty, funny, feisty little girl. She has understood the word no for a while but if you tell her not to touch something she will look at you, giggle and crawl faster back towards it. She can work the two of them into a frenzy squealing and gibbering at each other. She is imitating words we say now with a pretty good "bye" and a very distinct "hey".

Logan has the inch worm perfected. He gets up on his hands and knees and the pulls himself forward with his arms and flattens out, then repeat. It is very cute and he's pretty quick. One small issue...dragging his body behind tends to pull down his pants. Whenever you pick him up you better keep a good grip. He does this full body dolphin kick that can fling him right out of your hands. He is so strong! Has been since he was tiny. At six weeks he would straighten out when you put him on your lap to sit and could support his body weight. He still loves his jumper and points his toes quite well like a line backer ballerina.

He is still the happiest little boy with the sweetest smile that he will grace you with just for smiling at him. He has however developed one impressive temper tantrum. Usually, when having his diaper changed, nose wiped or being taken out of the bath. It involves a high pitched horse scream and a lot of flinging side to side with his eyes closed. It is usually pretty funny unless you are in a precarious diaper "situation." They both chase after Mario constantly but Logan gets more hits since he is a lot stealthier. Lila does too much squealing as she approaches.

They are both devouring anything I put in front of them. Spinach, broccoli black beans, shredded chicken, salmon, cheerios by the bucket (we had to switch from puffs which were getting too expensive) and all the standard veggies. Logan is pretty smart in a cheerio sharing scenario. If we sit them on the floor with cheerios on a mat in front of them he strategically sweeps them all towards him while Lila just starts shoveling them in. The only problem is, he ends up with a lot of them hiding under his legs.

I'm sure by now anyone reading this is probably hearing blah, blah, blah...so you think your kids are brilliant. Of course everyone does (theirs, not mine.) When you only write every few months it can get long winded, ugh! Hope no one has fallen asleep on their computer by now. This is as close to keeping a baby book as I am going to get. Life is a zoo with animals crawling all over me now and I can feel more chaos coming!
